AIM: To study the effect of endogenous cannabinoid (Anandamine, AEA) on proliferation, adherence and immigration in cultured bovine trabecular cells (BTCs) and to investigate the mechanism of AEA on the degrading intraocular tension. METHODS: BTCs were primarily cultured and subcultured, detected by NES and observed under TEM. The third passage cells were incubated with different dosages of AEA (10 μ mol/L, 1 μ mol/L, 0.1 μ mol/L, 0 μ mol/L, final concentration, diluted by DMEM) for 24, 2 and 2 hours. The number of BTCs was counted with MTT method. Then the results were analyzed by the computer data-analysis system and statistical test. RESULTS: AEA inhibits the proliferation, adherence and immigration in BTCs, in comparison and control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: On this data, AEA possibly degrades intraocular tension through affecting the outflow in trabecular meshwork. LA: Chinese
